A Critical Review on Glass Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Bars as Reinforcement in Flexural Members

Abstract Since the nineteenth century, reinforced concrete was evolved as a crucial material for construction. This popular composite is broadly used in different building typologies. However, decaying of steel rebar due to corrosion identified hindrance that can affect quality structures. In reference this, glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) bar essential because corrosion-resistant properties. The researchers performed various tests and numerical analysis know response GFRP-reinforced flexural members shear bending. Based on studies over last decade, this study critically analyzes member using (FRP) bars. Understanding behavior FRP alternating reinforcing will be aided by review. GFRP has high strength no yield point, conventional characterizations ductility may not applicable determine whether components are ductile. Hence, detailed needed understand such paper explores properties beams appreciate applications reinforcement members.
